Effects of gold and platinum on the activity of catalysts for the complete oxidation reaction of hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide

This study presents synthesis results of catalysts made perovskite-like oxide La2-xSrxCuO4 (x=0.0, 0.5, 1.0) using the citrate method and crystallisation at 800°C. The structure was characterised by X-ray diffraction (XRD). catalyst activity enhanced with gold (Au) platinum (Pt). Au mounted on sol-gel method. perovskite LaMnO3/LaCuO3 evaluated complete oxidation volatile hydrocarbons (HCs) in a mixture toluene methyl ethyl ketone (MEK) carbon monoxide (CO) microflow analysis system combined gas chromatography. showed that light-off temperature (the 50% conversion catalysts) Pt, Au/perovskite samples decreased significantly. Au/LaSrCuO4 nanoparticle CO reaction reached 150°C, lower than Pt/LaSrCuO4 (170°C), allowing replacement previous Pt catalysts. LaSrCuO4 had better oxidising activities La2CuO4 catalyst, indicating addition strontium (Sr) has increased activity, demonstrates potential for application catalytic converters motorcycles.
